Obesity in pets is on the increase in virtually epidemic proportions. Nearly 50% of all dogs and cats are affected. The causes are usually excessively energy-rich food in the form of snacks, together with insufficient exercise.
Obesity is a growing health issue for both people and their pets. Smaller food portions, sufficient exercise and weight controls with the veterinarian are essential elements of healthcare management for dogs and cats.
This November WSAVA is holding a conference on 'Preventing Obesity in People and Their Pets: A One Health Approach'. More info here: https://www.wsava-obesity.com/
